19th Century U.S. Newspaper Digital Archive -- "provides access to primary source newspaper content from the entire 19th century, from a range of urban and rural regions throughout the U.S."
Bloom's Literary Reference Online  -- full-text literary criticism from Professor Bloom and others. 
JSTOR -- access to scholarly journals in a variety of disciplines.  
Literary Reference Center Plus  -- access to reference works, books and literary journals.   
MLA International Bibliography -- index to resources in language and literature.   

Oxford English Dictionary -- the history and meaning of English words.   

Project Muse -- access to scholarly journals in the humanities and social sciences.  

Salem Literature Online -- contains "the Critical Insights series, which includes both classic and current literary criticism of the world’s most-studied literature.
Twayne's Authors Series -- literary criticism of American, English and World authors.

Academic Search Premier -- covers most academic areas of study.  
Encyclopaedia Britannica Online  -- full text of the complete encyclopedia.   
LexisNexis Academic -- access to news, business, legal, medical, and reference information.
