Henry Buhl Library

Interlibrary Loan

To request a book:

  1. Check Buhl's Library Catalog to be sure we do not own the book you need.  We will NOT request books that we already own.

  2. Fill out an Interlibrary Loan Request Form.  You may print out the form here or pick up a form at the library's Desk.

  3. Bring the form to the Desk; place it in the marked tray.  We will order the book and send an email when it comes in.

  4. Interlibrary Loan Coordinator: Conni Shaw, x3842,  clshaw@gcc.edu

  5. Be judicious - ask only for the number you can easily use at one time.  You may ask us to stagger requests a few days or a week apart to accommodate your reading speed.

  6. A fine of $1.00 per day with NO GRACE PERIOD is charged for all overdue Interlibrary Loan items.  Other late fees and charges for damage and loss may be imposed by the lending library.

  7. We will not process any additional Interlibrary Loan requests until you return all due or overdue Interlibrary Loan items.

Guidelines:

Restrictions:

  1. We will NOT order a book that Buhl Library owns unless the item is listed as missing.  If the book is checked out to another patron, we will put a hold on the item and/or recall it.

  2. We will NOT order textbooks for a class.

  3. We will NOT borrow items to put on reserve in our library.

  4. The Interlibrary Loan Code does NOT permit us to request NEW books (i.e., published within the current year).

  5. You may request the renewal of a book only once; the lending library reserves the right to deny any renewal request.

  6. Most libraries do not lend audiovisual materials, reference books, reserve books, rare or valuable materials such as manuscripts or old frail books which are difficult to replace, or material in high demand at the lending library.

  7. When we request to borrow a book via interlibrary loan, we are asking another library to do us the favor of loaning their material to us.  The lending libraries' priorities lie with their own patrons.  They are not obligated to fill your request.  We must abide by their instructions.
