Note:"Salter describes the explosion of opportunities for girls and women in sport by citing many facts and figures. He covers in great detail the many Title IX lawsuits that have been filed at both the college and high school level. Furthermore, he expounds on the barriers female sports reporters have faced while trying to do their jobs. In addition, he describes the limited choices the talented woman athlete has available if she wishes to pursue her sport after college. The material is enhanced by the many candid comments from female athletes and leaders. Salter uses a distinctive comment from each of these interviews as an introduction to each of the eight chapters. These chapters have colorful titles such as "Still Struggling" (chapter 1); "Where Do We Go from Here, Daddy" (chapter 8). The author concludes that there is still a long way to go for full equality, and that the new push will come from fathers who want the same opportunities for their daughters as their sons have always had." -- Choice review
