Note:Your telling me!: Sam Bisbee is an inventor who is the laughing stock of his small town. After demonstrating another failed invention, he meets a princess who promises to use her celebrity to turn his luck around.
Note:The old fashioned way: W.C. Fields is the Great McGonigle, manager of a theatrical troupe. Notorious for skipping out on bills and failing to pay actors, he next decends on a small town where he sets his sights on the hospitality of a wealthy widow.
Note:Man on a flying trapeze: Ambrose Wolfinger wants the afternoon off to go to a wrestling match. He tells his boss he needs to attend his mother-in-laws funeral. A series of mishaps lead his boss to send flowers to the house and notify the papers.
Note:Poppy: W.C. Fields play a charlatan who attempts to persuade an entire town that his daughter is actually an heiress to an unclaimed fortune.
Note:Never give a sucker an even break: W.C. Fields' last staring role in a feature length film consists mainly of a series of flashbacks -- a number of disjointed, funny and bizarre scenes, spoofing his own cinematic career, Hollywood, and the filmmaking industry.
