Note:The battleship Potemkin was originally released in the Soviet Union by First Goskino in 1926 with Russian intertitles under the title Bronenosets "Potemkin."

Note:Although originally intended to chronicle the entire unsuccessful 1905 Revolution against the Tsar on its 20th anniversary, Battleship Potemkin chronicles one representative episode--the mutiny on the Potemkin and the subsequent civilian massacre on the steps leading down to Odessa harbor. The film is notable for its use of non-actors in roles and in its use of Eisenstein's theory of montage editing.
