Abstract 520    $aThis documentary styled film draws the viewer into the life of Tchaikovsky to the sound of one of his most popular works, The String Serenade. The film features on screen performances by the I Musici de Montral Chamber Orchestra, the actors and the dancers, bended with original, skilfully crafted documentary vignettes inspired by the life of the composer. Born in the 19th century Russia, Tchaikovsky led a life crowned with success. In the wings of an Italian theatre and against a romantic countryside backdrop, dancers and actors poignantly enact various facets of the composer’s intimate life: his relationship with his wife Antonina, his strange ties to Baroness von Meck, his patron and the persecution complex that led ultimately to his death. Playtime: 52 minutes Directed by Raymond Saint-Jean.This documentary styled film draws the viewer into the life of Tchaikovsky to the sound of one of his most popular works, The String Serenade.
