This action packed and stunning DVD contains the following programs: Russia at war - On June 22, 1941 Operation Barbarossa began, unleashing a massive German attack against the Soviet Union and beginning the most violent conflict in the history of recorded warfare. By the winter of 1941, the Whernacht stood at the gates of Moscow, its panzers poised to take the capitol. But once again Russias greatest ally, Mother Winter intervened stopping the Germans on the verge of victory. It would take another 4 brital years of fighting and millions of lives before the red flag would finally fly over Berlin. The Red Army - After Stalin purged his offiver corps in the 1930's the Red army found itself unprepared for the massive German invasion in June of 1941. While the Wer macht would capture close to 5 million Russian prisioners during the war, the Red Army always seremed to recover...and get better. By the summer of 1943, the Red Army that had suffered so many defeats was no more. In its place stood one of the most formidible ground forces the world had ever known.
