Abstract 520    $a"A General Model for Multivariate Analysis was published in 1974. In many ways, it is unlike any other statistics book. For example, it approaches issues in Analysis of Variance rarely considered in other books providing many unique details and insights. While a quick glance at the book might make it appear theoretical and irrelevant for the applied statistician, a deeper look reveals techniques and strategies that allow the applied data analyst to conceptualize and formulate questions that answer not general hypotheses, but very detailed and specific statistical hypotheses. In a way this book provided the statistical background and theoretical understanding for users of the program NYBMUL, a powerful multivariate statistical program from the late 60's and early 70's. And yet today this book could play the exact same role by helping today's researchers gain a deeper understanding of these statistical models so they can use modern statistical software to extract the greatest amount of information from their data. I hope that this gives a new generation of readers an opportunity to learn from and benefit from his work." -- Statistical Classics Archive, UCLA
