Note: To accommodate the increased number of library instruction sessions required by the College’s WI/IL initiatives, the library staff asks that faculty members follow these guidelines.
The instruction librarians
need at least 2 weeks notice in advance of new instruction sessions to prepare
materials for classes. If the library staff has done instruction previously
in a class, please request instruction at least 1 week in advance to give us
time to make any necessary changes.
The library instruction staff
makes every effort to accommodate faculty members’ requests for instruction;
however, our instruction schedule may prevent instruction on the specific day
or time a professor requests.
The first 2 weeks of each fall
semester are reserved for HUMA 101 instruction. HUMA 201 classes may have to
take priority over other classes early in the fall semester.
Instruction is more effective
when it is connected to a specific assignment in the course. Please give your
assignment to the students prior to the instruction session so that they are
aware of their need for information.
Send or bring us a copy of
your course syllabus and a copy of the specific assignment at the time you
schedule instruction.
Library instruction works best when faculty members are actively involved. We ask that you make every effort to be present, and we invite you to participate with your students.
