MISSION

Henry Buhl Library of Grove City College will provide its students, faculty, staff, and administration with the resources necessary to support their educational needs and objectives.  The library will provide materials of high quality and timeliness that present a variety of intellectual perspectives so as to create a collection that is current and representative of the topics and viewpoints found in various fields of study.  As one of the major information centers of the campus, the library seeks to promote information literacy for all students and faculty across all areas of study and will subsequently provide, with the assistance of the College administration and staff, the services necessary to support this endeavor.

Who May Use the Library?

The primary patron group of the library is the students, faculty, and staff of Grove City College.  Members of this patron group must present their college identification cards for all library transactions.

Family members of college employees are required to present their campus ID cards for all transactions.  Town patrons will be issued library cards and must present them at the time of service. The services available for each patron category are listed below.

How to Obtain a Borrower's Card:

Students, Faculty, and Staff must use their Grove City College ID.  This card is required for all circulation transactions.

Family members of Grove City College employees must present their college identification card to the librarian at the Reference Desk for validation.  This card is required for all circulation transactions.

Grove City Borough residents
must be 18 years of age or older and present a valid form of identification, such as a driver's license, to receive a library card.  This card is required for all circulation transactions.  Applications for library cards are available at the Reference Desk.

Senior high and middle school students (Grove City Area Schools only) must place requests for library items with the librarians at their schools.  Buhl Library will lend materials to local school students only through the cooperation of the school librarians.

Information for GCC Students, Faculty and Staff wishing to participate is located here.

Cell Phone Usage in the Library:

Cell phone use is not permitted in the library.  When you enter the library, please program your cell phone to a silent operation mode.  Short, quiet cell phone calls may be made in the outer front lobby, in the coat area outside the Rare Book Room, and in the hall between the library and the TLC
. Please move extended conversations outside the library.    Be considerate of others using the library by observing these designated areas.

Public Computer Usage (Internet Usage Policy)

For all patron groups of Henry Buhl Library, the following regulations apply when using the library workstations for internet searching:

    1)  The use of email, list serves, and bulletin boards is prohibited.
    2)  No purchasing of materials or registering for services is permitted.
    3)  Writing to the internal drive is prohibited.
    4)  The Grove City College Campus Computing System Policy also includes all computer usage at Henry Buhl Library.

Lending Period and Borrowing Privileges

Borrowing materials from Henry Buhl Library is considered a privilege rather than a right. Lending periods and borrowing privileges vary according to the status of the user, but the use of a valid borrower's card to check out materials implies agreement by the borrower to abide by the assigned due dates and to return the materials in good condition. Failure to meet either requirement may result in fines and/or the loss of privileges. Circulation shuts down 15 minutes before closing, so plan accordingly.  Books and reserves returned after shut down will be held until morning and checked in without penalty.
